Responding effectively to emerging or on-going crises requires identifying people with the right profile and expertise at the right time, and ensuring they can be where they are needed most, at short notice. This is a key challenge.
Given this challenge, mediatEUr, together with partners Berghof Foundation, ESSEC-Irene, and swisspeace, is embarking on a new project to provide conflict prevention and mediation support to the European External Action Service and its partners.
The objective of this 12-months project is to provide high-quality, timely and tailored external expertise and technical assistance in the areas of conflict prevention, peace mediation and dialogue support to the EEAS’ Conflict Prevention, Peacebuilding and Mediation Instruments Division – through a network of proven and trusted experts.
The project will:
- Support the EEAS – as well as parties engaged on behalf of the EU – in responding to real-time conflict prevention and mediation needs, challenges and opportunities by providing technical expertise and advice across a range of topics.
- Build the capacity of individual EEAS personnel and teams, as well as partners, through design and delivery of tailored coachings, trainings and related materials on different topics in conflict prevention, peace mediation and dialogue.
- Gather, synthesise and disseminate knowledge and learning on conflict prevention, peace mediation and dialogue that is tailored to the EEAS’ specific needs, including through publication of good practices, conflict analyses, and lessons learnt.
